Switching to standing whilst working can mean a longer life. Sitting for long periods of time can cause serious health problems such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Reducing your sitting time to 3 hours per day can help increase life expectancy by up to two years.

Inactive muscles do not burn fat causing extra strain on all your organs, the major one being your heart. Couple that with elevated cholesterol levels and higher blood pressure when sitting and this could be a major cause of heart disease.
